I’m really not surprised. From my first days on the Internet, I was blown away by my confidence (and often arrogance) when socializing online. This practice is often bolstered by the “confi-gance” (just made that up) of others online. Folks have a tendency to ignore the social niceities that often mediate face-to-face interaction. You can’t get punched in the face or kicked in the junk from the otherside of a computer screen. Of course, a violent end to a Facebook squabble is extreme…beyond extreme…ok, new-level-of-fucking-idiotic extreme, however, I can understand how interaction on Facebook is driving folks to, as one Pew study suggests, end relationships. People are honest online, often more honest than they are in person. This bothers me at my core. We should be honest all the time, with those we interact with on social networking sites, such as Facebook, and especially with ourselves – online and IRL.
I’m really not surprised. From my first days on the Internet, I was blown away by my confidence (and often arrogance) when socializing online. We should be honest all the time, with those we interact with on social networking sites, such as Facebook, and especially with ourselves – online and IRL. I’m only assuming that these people as actually our friends and WE chose them as friends.

We’re told from a young age that small lies, white lies, are ok. White lies help us from hurting others’ feelings, right? Of course not, that isn’t the case. These little lies, mistruths, or omiting information usually ends up creating a monster of a social problem. It’s practially the stuff movies are made of.

Are we so prone to willingly lle to ourselves that the events I referred to earlier in this post are the result of built up angst? Of course, crazy is a factor is these situations, but from time to time I find myself pondering why stuff like this happens to the less crazy of us.

03. She makes checkin’ out hot ladies a team sport.
01. Silk Rope – Google it.

Southwest of Topeka exists a place hidden from the prudish masses. Near the intersection of 53rd & Indian Hills is the parking for Lake Edun, a local nudist, or as I’m sure they’d prefer, naturalist camp. I became aware of Edun while in college. We were allowed to utilize the area for a few parties in exchange for spending a weekend or two helping with general maintenance and the planting of hundreds of saplings. My wife and I continue to frequent Edun whenever we want some “nature” time. The lake is small in comparison to the larger lakes in the area, but large enough for canoes/kayaks, fishing and, of course, skinny dipping. If water isn’t your thing, there are several walking trails, two sandy beaches, a sand volleyball pit, sun-bathing and, in the winter months, a sauna. Organizers often coordinate monthly movie nights, shown on the “great lawn”, and other various events if a communal experience is what you seek.

From time to time, Edun has free visitor days and encourage anyone interested in the clothing-free lifestyle to attend and ask questions. These are usually divided into clothed morning and “natural” afternoon sessions.

If you’re looking for a unique experience, some nature time or just some peace and quiet, give Lake Edun a look. You won’t be disappointed.
