My most sincere apologies to all my readers. I have been gone for a long while. Not only is my internet shotty, but my work schedule hasn’t allowed me any time to focus on anything other than the essentials – eating, bathing, and sleeping. Once our work area and network was established I found out that I was unable to access marclimon.com on the Camp networks.

Not anymore. Seems they gave me a pass. Suckers! Just in time for Valentine’s Day too. “They love me, they really love me.”

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to be with my Valentine on Vday this year, but that’s ok. I’ll be with her soon enough and I can’t wait! Our story is an unusual one and I’d love to tell it, but not here, it’s complicated, so, TL;DR – She was madly in love with me, I hated her, but not now. (BTW babe, if the kids ever ask how we fell in love I think we should use the short version)

She’s my best friend. If I’m Mulder, she’s my Scully – with fewer aliens and more bonin’, way more bonin’.

Our relationship is unconventional and that’s why it works so well. What are some of the unconventional (inappropriate) reasons your relationship(s) work?

I haven’t had the best internet access while at North Fort Hood. I have had a fairly decent 3G connection on my iPhone. What have I done with this decent connection you ask? The obvious: Call family, call friends, check and send email, and last and certainly not least, surf the web for pictures of naked women and lulz.

I’ve been more than sucessful at both. Since I have posted in such a long time, I thought that I’d share with you a few of my recent favorites. Enjoy. I sure did.

It has been a while since I’ve posted anything. I’ve been busy with this deployment and the internet has been less than accessible. Saw this on Facebook this morning. Made me laugh. If you read marclimon.com regularly, you know that I own and cherish my Italian Greyhound. Whippets and IGs are NOT the same type of dog, but close enough for this to make me laugh. Enjoy.

The idea of destiny is bullshit. Quoting a Gilmore Gossip Girl (whatever) is a new level of bullshit. Suddenly, I feel alone.

Southwest of Topeka exists a place hidden from the prudish masses. Near the intersection of 53rd & Indian Hills is the parking for Lake Edun, a local nudist, or as I’m sure they’d prefer, naturalist camp.

I became aware of Edun while in college. We were allowed to utilize the area for a few parties in exchange for spending a weekend or two helping with general maintenance and the planting of hundreds of saplings.

My wife and I continue to frequent Edun whenever we want some “nature” time. The lake is small in comparison to the larger lakes in the area, but large enough for canoes/kayaks, fishing and, of course, skinny dipping.

If water isn’t your thing, there are several walking trails, two sandy beaches, a sand volleyball pit, sun-bathing and, in the winter months, a sauna.

Organizers often coordinate monthly movie nights, shown on the “great lawn”, and other various events if a communal experience is what you seek.

From time to time, Edun has free visitor days and encourage anyone interested in the clothing-free lifestyle to attend and ask questions. These are usually divided into clothed morning and “natural” afternoon sessions.

If you’re looking for a unique experience, some nature time or just some peace and quiet, give Lake Edun a look. You won’t be disappointed.

I thoroughly enjoyed my youth. Only problem is, I have difficulty recalling many of the enjoyable aspects of my childhood. They exist, but I have to seriously sit down and research what I watched as a kid, the music I listened to and the toys I loved to play with. It’s a curse. Often ends up like this, “Remember that movie I used to watch when I was in 3rd grade…or was it 5th, about that guy who was a ninja? shit, I think he was cowboy. Oh Fuck, nevermind.” Always seem to recall what I was thinking about when I have no one to tell.

Solution? The interwebs. Now, when and where I remember, I can just tell you all. Here are a few things I attempted to think of, forgot and later recalled from my childhood:

Keiketsu Lion-Maru

I wouldn’t be surprised if you said you’ve never heard of, let alone watched, Keiketsu Lion-Maru. At the time, 4th grade maybe, my father bought me a VHS tape. I don’t recall where he got it, but it was likely some second-hand store or garage sale because the tape never had a box and was never labeled. Recorded on it was what appeared to be a Japanese television show overdubbed in English.

The stars of the show were a small band of marauders who where “orphaned” by the murder of their sensai. The majority of show was comprised of thier efforts to win in battle against an evil “turd monster” repsonsible for their sensai’s fiery death.

This show had everything: Karate action, sexy Asian chicks, a enchanted flute that summons a Pegasus and a majic katana that turned it’s owner into a white lion…cape and all. If anyone knows where I could find a DVD copy (overdubbed in English), please let me know.

The Dirt Bike Kid

Starring “Ralphie” (Peter Billingsley) from ‘The Christmas Story,’ ‘The Dirt Bike Kid’ is a movie about an enchanted (yeah, more enchantment) dirt bike motorcycle that helps a kid gain confidence enough to stand up to bully’s, peers and adults, and save a local hot dog stand. I absolutely loved this show when I was a young lad. Why, you ask? I’m still trying to answer that question.

Interestingly enough, the director’s daughter is a friend of mine. I nearly pissed my pants with excitement when she told me her dad was the director. Believe it.

Gleaming the Cube

Remember when Christian Slater was awesome? Mr. Slater was never as awesome as he was in the crime-fighting-skateboarder-action flick, ‘Gleaming the Cube.’ Until five seconds ago (had to look it up) I had no idea what it meant to gleam the cube. Yup…still a stupid title for a movie. A favorite review of mine from Rotten Tomatoes, “‘Gleaming the Cube’ does for skateboarding what ‘Over the Top’ did for arm wrestling — i.e. not a hell of a lot.”

I took up skateboarding after watching this movie, only to “put it down” a week later. Ahhh, those where the days.

If it wasn’t for the occasionally unattended computer, I would have no idea what time and/or date it is. Not really sure what day of the week it is either.

I’ve been working long hours at a very high OPTEMPO (Opertation Tempo) for what, in reality, has been a week and a half, but feels like several months with very-shitty-to-no internet access to boot.

That being said, I have no idea what’s going on the the world. By chance, I found out Amy Whinehouse died – surprise, surprise. Also, someone who thought I gave a shit told me, “there’s gonna be football this year.”

Anything else going on in the world, locally (Topeka/Lawrence) or on the interwebs that I need to check out? Any suggested would be appreciated. I need to catch up.
